Nagpur: A student of LAD College committed suicide by consuming poison on Friday evening. The deceased has been identified as Shreya Sanjiv Bhandarkar (20), originally resident of Bhandara.
A student of BA III, Shreya was residing at Plot No 289, Gandhi Nagar, as a tenant and was sharing the room with another girl, who works with a private company. At around 8 pm, Shreya’s roommate returned home from her job and knocked the door, but nobody opened it. Seeing no response even after repeated knocking, Shreya’s roommate then peeped into the room from window to find Shreya lying on the floor with froth coming out of her mouth.
She then immediately informed the land lord, who in return called Ambazari police. The police team led by Police Inspector Sunil Chavan reached the spot and broke open the door. Police found a bottle of poisonous drug besides Shreya’s body. Cops believe that Shreya must have consumed the poison around 4 to 5 pm. Police informed Shreya’s parents in Bhandara about the incident, who have left for Nagpur.
The police have registered a case of accidental death and sent the body for post-mortem. Till filing of this report, the reason behind the suicide could not be known. Ambazari cops are investigating the matter.
