Nagpur: The Ashwin Navratri festival began on October 11 at the Shri Mahalakshmi Jagdamba Temple in Koradi, near Nagpur, with a large number of devotees arriving for the darshan of the goddess on the first day. Devotees began gathering at the temple as early as 4 am to seek blessings of Goddess Jagdamba in her Swayambhu (self-manifested) form.
Devotees from Nagpur and neighbouring areas are visiting the temple to participate in the Navratri celebrations. A special arrangement has been made for Swayambhu darshan on the first day, with the facility scheduled to remain open from 5 am to 10 am.
Special Arrangements for Navratri Devotees
Considering the expected rush during the festival, the temple administration has made arrangements for darshan, security, traffic management and other essential facilities to ensure the smooth movement of devotees.
The Navratri festival will continue from October 11 to October 20. Around 5,500 Akhanda Manokamana Jyotis (sacred lamps lit continuously as part of devotees’ prayers and wishes) are expected to be illuminated during the celebrations.
Lakhs of devotees are expected to visit the temple during the ten-day festival, making crowd management a key priority for the administration.
Temple Administration Appeals for Cooperation
To manage the anticipated crowds, the temple administration has appealed to devotees to cooperate with the arrangements. Visitors have been advised to avoid peak morning and evening hours, if possible, and plan their darshan during the afternoon to reduce waiting times.
The strong turnout on the opening day has created a devotional atmosphere at the Koradi Mahalakshmi Temple, with devotees gathering to seek the blessings of Goddess Jagdamba during the auspicious Navratri period.
