Kohale and Bawankule
Nagpur:
The “usual greed” of reaping undue benefit of power led to an unsavoury incident wherein the City Unit BJP President Sudhakar Kohale reportedly gave a dressing down to Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule for U-Turn on awarding contracts to a company floated by his (Kohale’s) relatives and supporters. The berating of Bawankule reportedly took place in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

According to sources, relatives and supporters of Kohale have set up a company. Subsequently, the City BJP President and South Nagpur MLA held discussions with Bawankule and ‘prodded’ him to award contracts in crores through State Government schemes. At that time, the Guardian Minister seems to have “approved” the idea and gave a word to Kohale to give a work worth Rs 2 crore under his department. And when Kohale was waiting for Bawankule to fulfill his word, he got information that the Guardian Minister slyly awarded the contract to his own “favourite” man instead of the company floated by his (Kohale’s) relatives and supporters. This surprising development left Kohale furious and he now waited for an opportunity to bamboozle Bawankule.

The red-faced Kohale reportedly got the opportunity last week, possibly on Wednesday, in Mumbai. Kohale rebuked the minister in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in no uncertain terms.

Interestingly, Kohale and Bawankule are in the same group of influence within BJP. Naturally, a few select party workers and contractors connected with the party are “reaping the benefits” directly or indirectly.
