Nagpur: A Godhani-based family was compelled to hold a press conference on Monday as, even after the death of their family member in their family due to a road accident in the posh Civil Lines area, cops are yet to find the “unidentified vehicle” which caused the accident.

Addressing the press briefing, Vishwajeet Singh, president of Nagpur Action Group, informed that his father, Shiv Bahadur Singh Thakur, a retired BSNL employee, was killed in a road accident between Akashvani Square and the former Chief Justice of India, Sharad Bobde’s house on February 18.
However, a month has passed, and cops are yet to ascertain the whereabouts of the accused driver or any details related to the incident.

When approached by cops, Singh said, “They were giving random excuses as there are no CCTV footage available to trace the vehicle that caused the accident. They just feel like we are after insurance money, instead we are just looking for the reason behind our father’s death.”

Singh also shared some alarming stats with the media: in the last two months, 73 people have lost their lives in 200+ accidents in Nagpur. However, barring one or two cases, cops only ignore the accidents.

“Nagpur is a developing city. With Metro, cement roads, and constant development, however, life has been constantly ignored in the city. The administration is to be blamed for the lack of planning and execution, which are causing accidents and loss of life on Nagpur streets,” said Singh.
