Kids at more risk of contracting dengue

Nagpur: The research and statistics from last few years have revealed that the children are at more risk of contracting dengue. In the 2014, most of the dengue patients that is 394 were in the age group of 4 to 15 years.

Taking cognizance of this the Nagpur Municipal Corporation(NMC) and the doctors of the city are appealing the children and youngsters to take precautionary measures to avoid dengue desease.

According to the available statistics, 34 girls and 55 boys from the age group of 0-5 years and 131 boys and 93 girls in the age group of 4-8 and 115 boys and 55 girls in the group of 8-15 years and 64 male and 54 females above the age of 15 years were affected by dengue.

The NMC officer who is looking at Malaria-Filaria Department desease Dr Jayshree Thote informed that the dengue mosquitoe lays eggs in fresh water. That is why it increases very fast. She further informed that her department is visiting homes of the people for inspection to counter these deseases. During the inspection drive the water tanks, coolers, water drums in open and unnessary things like shoes in open were also found with dengue eggs in it. The department has asked to clean the home at least once a week and also clean the utensils wherein water is kept with detergent and bleaching powder and rinse it in sun for a while.
