Khasdar Krida Mahotsav to host Blind Girls Cricket Tournament for first time

Nagpur: For the first time, Khasdar Krida Mahotsav, the brain child of Nagpur MP and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, will host blind girls cricket tournament as well as various sporting event for Divyang. In the Divyang events such as 100 m race, tricycle marathon, partially blind run, M R Run, handicap and deaf and dumb players will participate.

All these sporting events will be organised on January 16, 17 and 18, 2019. This was informed by the organisers at a press conference held at SJAN on Friday. Those present at the press meet include Vinay Upasani, Tournament Convener, Piyush Ambulkar and cricket player Gurudas Raut.

Ambulkar said that the sporting events are for four categories including Carrom, Volleyball, Chess and Cricket. Mentally challenged persons would also participate in the tournament. In the cricket tournament, the winners will get prize of Rs 21,000 in cash and the runners up Rs 15,000 in cash. Best Batsman, Best Bowler and Best Fielder will get Rs 2500 while the Man of the Match will receive cash prize of Rs 3000.

Volleyball winners will get Rs 11,000, Carrom Rs 10,000 and Chess (Men and Women) Rs 10,000. For the first time, Blind Girls Cricket Tournament is also being organised from January 12 to 14.

The tournament, to be played at University Ground, will be participated by players from six districts including Nagpur, Pune, Nashik, Solapur, Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. Total 120 players will take part. The winn ing team will get prize of Rs 21,000 in cash while the runners up will receive Rs 15,000 cash prize. The matches will be of six overs each, Convener of the tournament Sunil Dandekar said.
