Nagpur: An employee of Kamptee Nagar Parishad, deployed in stray pig catching squad, was assaulted on duty by three goons with the intention of eliminating him. The employee received deep injuries on his head, hands and legs inflicted with spears. The accused trio has reportedly been arrested.
The Kamptee Nagar Parishad employee named Kamal Ratan Badhel (42), resident of Dattatray Nagar, Ranala, Kamptee, along with other colleagues, had undertaken a drive to catch stray pigs in the town. During the drive, the squad caught 34 stray pigs. Enraged by the action, the three accused Salam alias Raja Tillu Rane (46), resident of Dal Oli No. 2, Kamptee, Yogesh Ashok Rane (34), resident of Bhajimandi, near Gandhi School and Ashish alias Sonu Deepchand Gujar (26) of Parsipura, Kamptee, first doled a threat to Kamal for his action. Later around 5.30 pm on Thursday, the three accused accosted Kamal near Salim Tea Stall in front of Kamptee Bus Stand and attacked him with a spear and spear rod with the intention of killing him. Kamal received deep injuries on his head, hands and legs. Moreover, the accused threatened the Nagar Parishad employee of dire consequences if he again comes to catch the stray pigs.
New Kamptee ASI Shrivas booked the three accused under Sections 307, 353, 333, 506, 34 of the IPC and reportedly placed them under arrest.
