Nagpur: Kamptee police have seized four tipper trucks and arrested drivers of the vehicles on the charges of excavating sand from Kanhan river bed illegally and transporting it for sale. The collective value of the seized truck and sand is Rs 20.37 lakh.
The cops have also booked the owners of the four seized trucks ion the offence.
The arrested drivers and their trucks are Sayyed Abdul Sayyed Chand (42) of Tajbagh (Eicher truck tipper MH-40/M 9771), Sanju Jagdeesh Thakur (27) of Vathoda Old Ring Road (Tata tipper truck MH-36/1786), Ajib Ansari Jamal Ansari (27) of Babataj Nagar (Eicher tipper MH-40/M 6399) and Suresh Shivratan Bajju (25) of Kharbi (Tipper MH-40/7222). The accused had excavated over 18 brass sand from Kanhan river bed at Neri Shivar on Tuesday.
Kamptee API Raut has booked the arrested drivers of the trucks under Sections 379, 34 of IPC.
