Kamble double murder: Adv Ujjwal Nikam may be appointed prosecutor by State Govt

Nagpur: Renowned lawyer Ujjwal Nikam is likely to be appointed prosecutor by State Government in the sensational Kamble double murder case, it is learnt. A notification in this regard could be issued in the evening of Tuesday, April 17, according to unconfirmed reports. The brutal murders of Usha (54) and one and half year Rashi, mother and daughter of Nagpur Today Crime Reporter Ravikant Kamble took place exactly two months ago on February 17, 2018.

Notably, entire journalist fraternity, led by Tilak Patrakar Bhavan Trust President Pradeep Maitra had met the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and demanded appointment of Adv Ujjwal Nikam as prosecutor in the Kamble double murder case. The Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule had also made efforts in this connection.

The mother and daughter of Ravikant Kamble were found murdered on February morning after they went missing on Saturday evening. Bodies of Usha Sevakram Kamble, 54 and Rashi, 1.5 year of age, were found stuffed in sacks in a nullah about 2 km away from their Pawansut Nagar residence. Police arrested a grocery shopkeeper Ganesh Shahu, his wife Gudiya, cousin Ankit Shahu and minor boy in connection with the murders.

Usha had left their home with Rashi in Pavansut Nagar around 5 pm. Kamble had reported the matter to the Hudkeshwar police station around 1.30 pm after returning from work. Usha was last seen with the kid near a grocery shop owned by one Ganesh Sahu in the same locality around 5 pm on February 17. Cops had found blood stains in accused Ganesh Shahu’s Bolero vehicle and house.

An offence under sections 302, 364, 201, 34 of Indian Penal Code, read with Sections 2,3 and 5 of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, was registered against the accused.
