Nagpur: Kalmeshwar police have cracked three cases involving burglary and vehicle theft and arrested two accused. Police recovered stolen gold and silver jewellery and two two-wheelers worth a total of ₹2.39 lakh. CCTV footage and information from reliable informers helped the police identify the suspects.

In a burglary case registered at Kalmeshwar police station, complainant Rekha Anil Kahar (35), a resident of Vijaynagar, Rani Durgavati Society, had gone to Deolapar with her family to visit an ailing relative. During their absence, an unidentified thief allegedly broke into their locked house.
When the family returned on June 11, 2026, they found gold and silver jewellery and cash missing from a cupboard. A case was registered under Section 305(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Police examined footage from around 60 to 75 CCTV cameras installed in and around the area. Technical analysis of the suspects’ movements, along with information from informers, helped investigators make a breakthrough.
Based on the leads, police detained Sagar alias Bhanja Ashok Verma (23) from the Kalmeshwar police station area on September 3. During interrogation, he allegedly confessed to the burglary. Police recovered gold and silver jewellery worth around ₹1.64 lakh from his possession.
Bike Stolen Outside Garden
In another case, complainant Tushar Vinod Dhamgaye (19) had parked his Passion Pro motorcycle, registration MH-49-BD-2743, outside Lata Mangeshkar Garden on July 13 at around 5 pm. The motorcycle, valued at approximately ₹50,000, was allegedly stolen by an unidentified person.
A case was registered under Section 303(2) of the BNS and an investigation was launched.
Activa Stolen from Outside House
The second vehicle theft involved Syed Imran Tahir Ali (38), a resident of Thackeray Bhavan, Kanama Nagar. He had locked his Activa, registration MH-49-M-7289, outside his house at around 3 pm on July 15. The vehicle, worth approximately ₹25,000, was later found missing.
During the investigation into both vehicle thefts, police analysed CCTV footage and gathered information through their informer network.
Police arrested Vikas alias Angad Laxman Verma (22), a resident of Vijaynagar, Durga Chowk, Kalmeshwar, on September 6. The stolen Activa and Passion X Pro motorcycle, together worth around ₹75,000, were recovered from his possession.
With this, police recovered stolen property worth ₹2.39 lakh in all three cases.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of senior police officials. Senior Police Inspector Pravin Kale, Police Inspector (Crime) Karim Pathan, Assistant Police Inspector Ajay Jadhav and other members of the Kalmeshwar police team played key roles in cracking the cases.
