Nagpur:
He can see through the things what many with full vision cannot. He effortlessly infiltrate one’s feeling like one rules the hearts! It would be quite unfair to call this 20 year old boy a visually challenged guy because when he strikes the notes on piano, it tunes up every atmosphere and create the perfect symphony. Meet Mayank Sahu… Yes, he cannot see but he has the abilities that can give any ‘abled’ person a second thought about own’s capability.

A ‘Kaabil’ boy he is, Mayank imbibed his learnings from nowhere. He is certainly gifted with what some may call miracle while others prefer to say its pure music. He has got a perfect sense of sight and charismatic knack for music.

Mayank gently floats his fingers on piano as he sinks into the vocal. Currently pursuing his BA 2nd year from Vasantrao Institute of Arts & Social Science, Mayank is an epitome of achievements as he has got his art registered into as many as 8 record books including Limca Book of Records.

You may be forgiven for getting surprised as you get to learn what more Mayank has to his credit. Well to begin with, his talent has been duly acknowledged by the music legends like Hariprasad Chourasia, Aadesh Srivastava and Louis Banks along with singing wizard like Sonu Nigam. With over a dozen of live shows to his credit, Mayank has traveled through the nation and abroad. He is Visharad in Hindustani Vocal Classical as well as Visharad in Tabla from Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalay Mandal and Miraj Western Piano 5th grade from Trinity Guildhall, London. At the age of 4 Mayank suffered an Optic Atrophy owing to the negligence of a medical practitioner. Optic Atrophy is the condition of complete blindness. But you could not see even a hint of this odd on his face. Neither he or his father considers this as any weakness which can resist his desire to become an accomplished musician.

Talking to Nagpur Today, Mayank’s father Manoj Sahu feels a degree of pride in his voice as he narrates his son’s achievements. He candidly shares, “Mayank was barely 4 years old when he started recognising the musical notes. For the last 17 years he has been continuously practicing for 5 hours on daily basis. He is probably among the few singers who perfectly manages the keyboard while he sings.”

He added, “Mayank is trained in both classical and western music and featured across channels like Aaj Tak, Zee TV, India TV. As he has made it to series of record books, his father now wanted to see his son live up to his dreams.

Well Nagpur Today salutes to the spirit of Mayank and wish him only the best in his life. May he live all his dreams with flying colors.
