Nagpur: In an audacious act, a man abducted a juvenile girl from the custody of police at Mayo Hospital on Wednesday night. Cops have mounted a massive search to trace the girl as well as the kidnapper.
The juvenile girl was brought to city from Kondhali by Woman Police Sepoy Joshna Bhajanrao Dhurve (26), attached to Kondhali Police Station on Wednesday for producing her in Juvenile Justice Board. The Board granted remand of the juvenile girl and ordered to take her to Children’s Remand Home, Katol Road. But before taking her to the Remand Home, the woman police sepoy took her to Mayo Hospital for medical check-up.
Both the woman police and the juvenile girl were standing in front of Casualty Department around 7 pm. At the same time, the accused Rakesh alias Bhurya Ramesh Wankhede (24), resident of Nandanvan Slums, arrived there and suddenly pushed the woman cop and escaped with the juvenile girl on his Bajaj Pulsar bike (MH-49/Z 5081).
Based on the complaint of the woman police sepoy, Tehsil Woman API S S Thorat booked the accused Rakesh Wankhede under Sections 225, 363, 363 of the IPC and mounted a hunt to trace the girl as well as the accused.
