Poonch Jawan Killed
Srinagar: An Army jawan and a nine-year-old girl were killed as Pakistani troops shell areas along the LoC in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. Two more civilians have been injured.

The army said soldier Muddasar Ahmed (pictured) was hit when mortar shells landed on his bunker at around 7.30 am. The 37-year-old father of two was a brave and sincere soldier and “loved his job to the core”, the army said.

India said the army “reserved the right to retaliate appropriately” to ceasefire violations.

India’s Director General of Military Operations, in a conversation with his Pakistani counterpart said, “Made it implicit that Indian Army reserved the right to retaliate appropriately to any incident of violation of ceasefire but is sincere in its effort of maintaining peace and tranquility along the Line of Control provided there was reciprocity.”
