Jaripatka cops arrest six members of a gang, foil their dacoity plan

Nagpur: Jaripatka police on Friday night arrested six members of a gang and foiled their dacoity plan. Some cash and arms have been seized from the possession of arrested accused.

Cops received a tip-off that a group of suspicious persons had gathered in bushes near a ground situated on Naraghat-Indira Nagar Slums. Armed with the information, a team of Jaripatka police rushed to the spot and surrounded the gang of suspicious persons around 9.15 pm on Friday. When confronted with reason for gathering at odd hours, the accused fumbled and could not give satisfactory replies. Subsequently, the cops frisked the six persons and found an iron khanjir (large knife), another sharp-edged weapon, rope, wooden sticks and other material in the possession of the gang members. With the seizure of arms, all the six members of the gang were placed under arrest. Sustained grilling revealed that the accused were planning a dacoity.

The arrested gang members have been identified as Sandip alias Kalu Vilas Gajbhiye (24), Sudhir alias Chafal Vilas Gajbhiye (22), Shubham alias Sonu Dhanraj Uike (23), all residents of Indora, Vilas Ramchandra Manekar (24) of Hudco Colony, Sikander alias Sheikhu Shafi Khan (26) of Mecosabagh and Vikas Bibhishan Davle (30) of Lumbini Nagar.

PSI Dongre has registered an offence against all the six accused under Sections 399, 402 of IPC rtead with Sub-Section 4+25 of Arms Act and probing the matter further.
