Jambuwantrao Dhote, others booked for heckling PSI on duty

Nagpur: Lakadganj police on Friday booked Jambuwantrao Dhote, once a fiery Vidarbha protagonist, and his 15-20 activists on the charges of putting hurdles in police duty, manhandling a Police Sub-Inspector and threatening violence including burning of police vehicles.

According to police, the Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) Hemant Shivajirao Thorat, attached to Lakadganj Police Station, had gone to an accused woman’s house near Rekhabai’s residence, Ganga Jamuna area, around 3.30 pm on Friday for carrying out a legal action. When the PSI Thorat was in the middle of action, the accused Jambuwantrao Dhote, Kukde and 15-20 activists manhandled Thorat and shouted at him “Tumhi mulivar bekaydeshir karvai karta. Tila sodun dya nahitar tumchi vahane jalpol karun taku” (You illegally take action against the girl. Spare her or your vehicles will be burnt down). With this threat, the accused took the accused girl in their possession. The accused not only put hurdles in police duty but also heckled the PSI and threatened of violence.

Lakadganj PSI Analdas, acting on a complaint of PSI Thorat, has booked the accused Jambuwantrao Dhote and others under Sections 353, 225(B), 186, 143, 149, 189 of the IPC read with Section 135 of Mumbai Police Act and investigating the matter further.
