Mumbai: Sridevi’s mortal remains are on their way to Mumbai from Dubai as we write this. After 48 hours of critical investigation by the Dubai Police and the Dubai Public Prosecution office, Sridevi’s death case has finally been closed. “Accidental drowning due to loss of consciousness” has been concluded as the cause of death. While the mortal remains are expected to reach here by 8 pm today (February 27), the funeral will take place tomorrow (February 28).
“Now that the Dubai Public Prosecution has completed all the formalities, I request my friends in media and my friend Subramanian Swamy to please stop making false allegations. Sridevi Ji’s body will arrive tonight and her last rites will be performed tomorrow afternoon,” Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh confirmed to a news agency.
The legendary actress who was just 54, breathed her last in Dubai on the night of February 24. Sridevi along with husband Boney Kapoor and younger daughter, Khushi Kapoor was there to be a part of nephew Mohit Marwah’s wedding celebrations. After the wedding, Sridevi decided to extend her stay at hotel Jumeirah Emirates Tower, while Boney and Khushi came back to the country as he had some important work in Lucknow. Their elder daughter Janhvi Kapoor was not part of the wedding at all for she was busy shooting for her upcoming debut film, Dhadak.
