If only Apple decides to keep the usual launch schedule for the launch of the new iPhones, we can see the iPhone 2018 lineup go official in late September or early October. This year too, Apple is expected to launch three iPhones, with 5.8-inch, 6.1-inch and 6.5-inch display. All the three iPhones are rumoured to come with iPhone X glass design and that notch. Another feature that the upcoming iPhones may have in common is the dual-SIM support. Well, now that’s a great news for iPhone fans. Until now, the dual SIM support for the upcoming iPhones was a rumour, but looks like some sort of a confirmation has come from Apple on the same now.

Dual SIM support has been one of the most awaited features that the fans wanted in an iPhone. A new report coming from 9to5Mac suggests that Apple is finally considering to fulfil the wish of the Apple fans. A source code of iOS 12 developer beta 5 reveals this bit of information. The code uses terms like “second SIM status” and “second SIM tray status” hinting at dual SIM support iPhones in the near future.

Another part of the iOS 12 beta source code notes the term — “dual sim device”. This most probably reveals that Apple is building the required software support for the dual-SIM functionality into the iOS 12 — the next iteration of its mobile OS from Apple.

It is safe to say that the upcoming iPhones or the iPhone 2018 lineup will come with two physical SIM card slots. However, there’s no information if all the three iPhones will support the dual SIM functionality or not. Chances are, the cheaper variant iPhone or the 6.1-inch LCD display iPhone might come with single SIM support, considering its affordable price tag. The dual SIM support is most likely expected to come with the iPhone X follow up or the 5,8-inch OLED display iPhone and the iPhone X Plus or the 6.5-inch OLED display iPhone.

Before this confirmation coming from the iOS source code, previous rumours also hinted at the dual-SIM support for the upcoming iPhones. The past rumours had revealed that only the expensive or the iPhone X Plus or the 6.5-inch iPhone with OLED display will come with dual-SIM support and the other two will not. The rumours also suggested that Apple will launch the dual SIM support iPhone only in select markets — the countries where dual-SIM devices are most popular like Nigeria, Brazil, and Egypt.

Alongside the new iPhones, there is some new information regarding the HomePod. Another report coming from 9to5Mac reveals that the HomePod will come packed with a new feature that a lot of Apple fans have been waiting for — we are talking about the making phone calls directly functionality. Right now, to make a call, users will need to dial or answer on iPhone and then select the speaker as the audio output device.
