International Women’s Day celebrated in Red Light area of Nagpur

100_6431Nagpur Today: Indian red Cross Society, Nagpur Branch and National Aids Control Society organized an awareness program for Commercial sex workers on the occasion of International Women’s Day on March 8, 2014 at the red light area of Nagpur usually known as Ganga Jamuna. Near about 200 Commercial sex workers participated in the program. Gynecologist Dr. Anuradha Ridhorker, Secretary of  rashtriya Manvadhikar sangathan Dinesh Sharma,  camp co-coordinator Mahatme Eye Bank Mohan Kharabe,  Editor of Times Of  People weekly News Paper Arun Kumar Balpande and project Manager of HIV aids precaution program Hemlata lohwe were present on the occasion. The sex workers were felicities on this occasion also BPL CARD, Rashan Card, Adhar Card,Bank Passbook  were distributed to the Commercial sex workers.

Dr. Anuradha Ridhorker during her speech said that the awareness regarding HIV and hygiene is very important. She added that during past few years the awareness in Commercial sex workers regarding their health has been tremendously improved. She, while giving her speech, appreciated the Commercial sex workers guts how they are coming out and without fearing facing the world. She also appreciated the efforts of Indian red Cross Society.

Secretary of rashtriya Manvadhikar sangathan, Dinesh Sharma in her speech guided the Commercial sex workers about their human rights. He said that the Commercial sex workers should believe in herself and should not feel they are anyway inferior than other women’s of the so called respectfull society.

Project Manager of HIV aids precaution program Hemlata lohwe who is working for betterment of Commercial sex workers under Indian red Cross Society told the media personality that they are reaching their goal day by day and the target of making Ganga Jamuna (the red light area of Nagpur) free from HIV will be reached very soon.
