Nagpur: An injured tiger trapped in the Right Bank Canal of Gosikhurd Dam was safely rescued on Tuesday morning after a dramatic operation in Dhanori village of Pauni tehsil.
Locals first noticed the tiger struggling along the Pauni–Sawarla road around 7–8 a.m. and alerted the Forest Department. A team of forest officials and veterinarians rushed to the spot and kept the area secured to avoid human–wildlife conflict.
After monitoring its condition, experts tranquilised the tiger and lifted it from the canal. The big cat has been shifted to the Gorewada Rescue Centre in Nagpur for treatment.
Forest officials are examining the cause of injury and the animal’s health status. They say rising tiger movement around Gosikhurd indicates increasing dispersal into human-dominated areas.
