Injured in firing, aged architect succumbs to bullet wounds at 12 noon

Bullets of CA Road Firing

Nagpur: The 72-year-old architect Eknath Dharmaji Nimgade, who was shot at by a masked man and received bullet wounds, died at around 12 noon on Monday. However, the doctors of Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital have not yet revealed the exact time of death. Latest reports claim that nearly 7-8 rounds were fired by the masked man. While 3 bullets were extricated from his hand, the other bullets were removed from other parts of his body.

Sources claimed that the deceased Eknath Nimgade was returning from Gandhibagh Garden where he goes every-day. The deceased is said to be a resident of a house right behind Hotel Satkar situated on Central Avenue Road. The deceased was riding TVS Scooty bearing RTO registration No MH-31/ U-269.

Police sources claimed that this firing was carried out by a Supari killer (contract killing). Sources claimed that the firing was a result of an old property dispute. The property is allegedly located on Wardha Road and certain people were allegedly pressurizing the deceased to sell the property. However, repeated refusal by the deceased could have resulted in the party interested in buying the property at all costs giving a ‘Supari’ (contract killer) top eliminate him.

The family members claimed the role of a person owning and operating private travels and another person who is running tuition classes allegedly given the contract to eliminate the deceased Eknath Nimgade.

Sources revealed that person who is running Pioneer Tuition Classes  and a Prominent Builder identified as Anil Nair and the person owning and operating Hindustan Travels (a private travels) have been pressurizing the deceased to sell his property located on Wardha Road. The cops have since started questioning the above mentioned persons and are quizzing them to ascertain if they did had any role in the firing incident.

It could be mentioned here that on September 6, 2016, at around 8:15 am, the 72-year-old injured Eknath Nimgade was going somewhere on his TVS Scooty Pep moped. When he was passing the spot behind the Petrol Pump situated on Agrasen Bhavan Square, a masked man approached the victim on a black coloured Honda Activa scooterette. The masked man spoke to the victim for around 1.5 minutes and suddenly whipped out his fire-arm (mouser or country-made-pistol) and fired on his hand. The masked man allegedly fired 4-5 rounds at the 72-year-old man.

One bullet has allegedly passed through and through a spot between the victim’s chest and stomach. On receipt of information, the police personnel of Tehsil Police Station reached the crime spot. When they arrived at the spot, the victim was found fallen down profusely bleeding and the TVS Scooty’s motor was running. The profusely bleeding victim was rushed to Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (Mayo). The victim’s son is identified as Advocate Anup Nimgade and a practicing lawyer.

The cops from the Nagpur Crime Branch too had arrived on the spot and are investigating. The area has been cordoned off. The police personnel have recovered four casings of the bullet fired on the victim. Sources revealed that the bullets are of 7.65 mm (Mouser or Luger pistol). Police sources claim that there are some eye-witnesses to the entire incident too.

Sources in police department said that this firing could be a fall out of some property dispute where the deceased had a major stake. However, the cops are investigating the case from all angles as well.
