Nagpur: Quick response and professional handling averted panic in Ram Nagar on Sunday morning after an Indian Rock Python was spotted moving through a residential area. The reptile was safely rescued by noted wildlife rescuer Shubham G.R, President of the Wild Animals and Nature Helping Society.
The incident occurred around 11 am when residents noticed a large python emerging from a house and heading towards the road, triggering alarm among locals and commuters. A crowd soon gathered as fear spread over the possibility of the snake entering nearby homes.
On receiving information, Shubham G.R rushed to the spot and, using standard rescue protocols and calm handling techniques, successfully secured the python without any injury to the animal or the public.
Forest officials said the reptile was healthy and was later released into a suitable forest habitat in accordance with wildlife protection guidelines.
The Indian Rock Python, locally known as Ajgar, is a non-venomous and legally protected species that plays a vital role in controlling rodent populations and maintaining ecological balance. Wildlife experts said timely intervention by trained rescuers is crucial to prevent harm to both humans and animals during such encounters.
