Nagpur: Furious over being rejected, a youth shot at a girl who escaped unhurt, under jurisdiction of Nandanvan police station on Saturday night. The incident sent shockwaves in the area. Incidentally, as the incident was narrated, the cops also were awestruck as the crime pattern did not fit into regular incidents.
Are around 9.30 pm, the 29-year-old girl was walking back home from her work place.Ayouth, identified as Gaurav alias Pappu Shendurnikar (33), a resident of Beltarodi, was following her. Suddenly, Gaurav grabbed her and allegedly molested her. When the girl resisted, Gaurav lost his cool and pushed her. When the girl fell on the road. Gaurav started hurling expletives at her.
To her surprise, Gaurav brandished a gun and fired a shot at her. The girl was lucky to escape the gun shot as Gaurav missed the target due to darkness. After firing a shot at her, Gaurav fled the spot on his Activa. The shocked girl somehow reached home and narrated the incident to her parents.
An FIR was lodged with Nandanvan police. Cops registered an offence under Sections 341, 354, 307, 294 and 506 (B) of the Indian Penal Code, read with Section 3/25 of Arms Act. Further investigations are under way.
