Incredible performance of Khaperkheda Thermal Power Station

Nagpur: The installed capacity of Khaperkheda Thermal Power Station is 1340 MW, with four units of 210 MW and one unit of 500MW. Out of these, unit No 1 of 210 MW capacity created a history on 29th March 2015 at 12.31 PM, by surpassing 200 days of continuous running.

This unit is continuously running since 10th Sept 2014. This is a record in the history of Khaperkheda as well as recent years of MAHAGENCO. Prior to this the same unit had created a record of 182.97 days of continuous running from 12th April 2006 till 12th Oct 2006. This unit was commissioned on 26th of Mar’ 1989 and has completed 26 years of running on this 25th March 2015.

Also, unit No 1 to 4 has created another record of collective continuous running for 70.97 days from 30th Oct 2015 to 9th Jan 2015. The previous best was for 50.45 days from 9th May 2007 to 29th June 2007. Also, for the first time in the history of this power station unit No 1 to 4 has reached a landmark of 100% collective and continuous availability in the month of Nov and Dec 2014. The Specific Oil Consumption for the month of Dec 2014 was the lowest ever i.e. 0.165 ML/KWH.

There is a remarkable, continuous improvement and reduction in forced outages in unit No 1 to 4 in the able leadership of Baburao Bagde, DyCE I and his equally capable subordinate officers and workers.

The 500 MW unit No 5 is commissioned since 16th April 2012. This unit also generated whopping 312.197 MUs (PLF 92.92%) in the month of Feb 2015 which is the best ever performance of this unit. This set also created another record of day highest generation of
12.234 MUs (PLF 102%) on 24th March 2015. The previous record was 12.208 MUs (PLF 101.7%), on 29th Dec 2012.

All the Officers and workers, under the able leadership of Kumarwar, DyCE II, continuously ensure that the Specific Oil Consumption as well as Specific Auxiliary Consumption remains minimum possible for unit No 5. Khaperkheda Thermal Power Station is always committed to maximum generation at lowest possible cost with optimum consumption of natural resources and effective control on
environmental emissions. It is regularly establishing new records and achieving new mile stones under the vibrant and dynamic leadership of Umakant Nikhare, Chief Engineer. He has given the credit of all these planned achievements to Rajesh Rajgadkar, Hemant Rangari, Shantaram Paunikar, Siddharth Titare, Himmatrao Awachar, Dipak Joshi and all section In-charges, officers, Engineers, Workers, Contract labours and contractors.
