In-laws booked for woman’s murder

A 60-year-old man and his wife, 55 were arrested by Kalamna police for allegedly killing their daughter-in-law by setting her on fire, suspecting on her character. The deceased, identified as Ganga Yadav, 28, was mother of three children.

Makhsudan Yadav and his wife Lilabai, had set Ganga ablaze while she was alone at their joint residence at Shiv Nagar, near Shitla Mata Mandir, on Monday morning.
Ganga, in her statement to the police told that she was set ablaze by her in-laws while she was alone at home on Monday morning. The reason she told cops that her in-laws would doubt on her character and set her on fire.
“She told that Lilabai hold her hands while Yadav poured kerosene on her and set her afire. Leapt in flames, she ran out of house seeking for help. Neighbours covered her with blanket and rushed her to nearby Mayo hospital where she was declared dead during treatment,” told police.
Ganga had an arrange marriage with Roshan, a labourer, eight years ago. She leaves behind three children. All her kids had been to school when her in-laws set her ablaze. Police told that they are still investigating whether Roshan was present at home or not when the incident took place.

Ganga told police that her in-laws would often harass her doubting on her character. They would allege her link-up with neighbouring men and would force her to leave house. On Monday around 10.30 am, her in-laws first picked up a quarrel with her and later set her on fire.
Police has registered a murder case against them and has arrested the accused.
