New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast widespread rainfall across Maharashtra over the next five days and issued Red, Orange and Yellow alerts for several districts in Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha.
A Red Alert has been issued for Chandrapur, Gadchiroli and Gondia, where extremely heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds is expected at isolated places. The IMD said these districts are likely to witness intense rainfall activity before weather conditions gradually improve later in the forecast period.

An Orange Alert has been issued for Nagpur, Wardha, Bhandara, Latur and the ghat areas of Kolhapur, with forecasts of heavy to very heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds.
The IMD has also predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in Yavatmal, where thunderstorms and moderate rainfall are expected to continue over the next few days before easing.
A Yellow Alert has been issued for Palghar, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon and Nashik. These districts are likely to experience light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds reaching 30–40 kmph, with heavy rain expected at isolated locations.
Additionally, Yellow Alerts remain in effect for the ghat regions of Nashik, Ahilyanagar, Pune and Satara, as well as Sangli, Solapur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Beed, Hingoli, Dharashiv, Akola, Amravati, Buldhana and Washim.
The weather department has warned that the heavy rainfall may trigger localized flooding, waterlogging in urban and low-lying areas, flash floods, landslides, mudslides and river flooding in vulnerable regions. Strong winds could uproot weak trees, damage crops and plantations, and disrupt road, rail, air and ferry services. Rough sea conditions are also expected along the Konkan coast.
Authorities have advised residents to remain alert, avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rainfall, and follow official weather advisories.
