Nagpur: To emphasize the importance of physical exercise in prevention of diabetes a Cycle Rally was organized in the morning. Nagpur Branch of Indian Medical Association celebrated World Health Day on April 7, 2016 at IMA Hall. This year “BEAT DIABETES” was the theme given by World Health Organization (WHO). To create awareness for preventing diabetes

The rally was flagged off by Deputy Director Health Services, Dr. Sanjay Jaiswal, Past National President and Patron IMA MS Dr. Ashok Adhao and Past President IMA MS and Nagpur, Dr.  Milind Naik.

The rally started from IMA Hall to Shankar Nagar, Law College Square, Variety Square, Lokmat Square, Chatrapati Nagar Square, Orange City Hospital Square to Shankarnagar and ended at IMA Hall. The slogans and Posters for prevention of Diabetes were displayed on two vehicles. Ambulances were provided by Deputy Director of Health Services and by Orange City Hospital who were accompanying the participants of the Rally.

Photo of Cycle RallyDDHS Dr Sanjay Jaiswal, elaborated about the availability of ultramodern facilities and gadgets with advanced life supporting systems in the ambulance. He also requested to use this facility of ambulance by dialing No.108 in case of emergency.

Not only IMA members, but also members from various cycle groups and health conscious environmental friendly organizations like adventure Mountaineer club, Ladies on Saddle club, Saddle up Guys Club, Morning Bikers Club, Orange City Riders and Hawk Riders Club displayed enthusiasm in the rally. Dr Amit Samarth (1000 km Brevet Accomplished) emphasized the importance of exercise and fitness. Dr Vikram Alsi, Dr. Kishore Deshpande, Dr Kush Jhujhunwala, Dr R J Malani, Dr Pravin Sagole, Dr Manjusha Giri, Dr Satkar Pawar, Dr Sanjay Deotale, Dr Vaishali Khandait, Dr B K Sharma, Dr Ravi Sawarbandhe, Dr Anuradha Ridhorkar, Dr Jagdish Hadawoo, Dr Hemant Rahatekar worked hard for the success of the  rally.

In the evening a CME dedicated to Diabetes its complications, prevention and Management was organized at IMA Hall.  In this CME Dr. Anand Kate, Past President, IMA, Nagpur explained about the Goals of WHO. Diabetologist Dr. Shailesh Pitale delivered a lecture on Diabetes, complications and infections. Well known physician Dr. Nikhil Balankhe spoke on Preventions and Management of Diabetes.  The program was well attended and appreciated by all. Dr. Shenaz Chimthanwala conducted the CME very smoothly. President Dr. Avinash Wase and Secretary Dr. Archana Kothari expressed their heartfelt thanks to all for making this program a big success.
