NAGPUR: Crime Branch Unit-1 conducted a major raid on an illegal Mahua liquor distillery in the Hingna police station area and seized illicit liquor and raw material worth around ₹2.06 lakh. One accused was arrested, while three others managed to flee after spotting the police.
Acting on a tip-off, a team from Crime Branch Unit-1, along with the RCP squad, raided an illegal Mahua liquor-making unit operating in the Kinhi area of Chandrapur Rethi village. The action was carried out in the presence of independent witnesses.

During the raid, police seized approximately 1,700 litres of fermented Mahua wash, valued at around ₹1.70 lakh, and 180 litres of ready-to-sell illicit Mahua liquor, worth approximately ₹36,000. The total value of the seized material was estimated at ₹2.06 lakh.
Since transporting the large quantity of fermented wash was not feasible, police destroyed it at the spot. Plastic drums and other materials being used to manufacture the illicit liquor were also destroyed during the operation.
Police have taken action against 45-year-old Dnyaneshwar Shriram Marodi, a resident of Kinhi, Chandrapur Rethi, under the provisions of the Maharashtra Prohibition Act.
Meanwhile, three other suspects—Punibaai Balya Rajput, Amardeep Arun Pawar and Atul Shriram Marodi—fled the spot after seeing the police team.
Hingna police are conducting further investigation into the case and efforts are underway to trace the absconding suspects.
