Nagpur: Marking World No Tobacco Day, the Indian Dental Association (IDA) Nagpur Branch organized the grand finale and prize distribution ceremony of its flagship awareness initiative, “Smile for Tomorrow – World No Tobacco Day Photo Contest 2026,” at Hotel Centre Point, Ramdaspeth.
The event was held under the leadership of Dr. Poonam Hudiya, President of IDA Nagpur Branch, and Dr. Anshul Mahajan, Honorary Secretary, with the objective of creating awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco consumption while promoting healthy smiles and a tobacco-free lifestyle.
The unique photo contest witnessed an enthusiastic response from the public, attracting over 170 participants across various age groups. Through creative photographs and inspiring smiles, participants conveyed powerful messages encouraging healthy living and a tobacco-free society.
The ceremony was graced by several distinguished guests, including Prafulbhai Ganatra, Secretary of Navratra Hospital & Research Centre, Nagpur; Dr. B.K. Sharma from RST Cancer Institute; and Arun Kshirsagar, Senior Police Inspector of Lakadganj Police Station. Other notable attendees included Rajubhai Acharya, In-charge of the Dental Department at Navratra Hospital, and Dr. Hrishikesh Fate from the American Oncology Institute.
Addressing the gathering, the guests emphasized the serious health risks associated with tobacco use and urged citizens, particularly young people, to embrace a tobacco-free lifestyle. They highlighted the importance of oral health, healthy smiles, and building a society free from addiction. The speakers also appreciated the efforts of IDA Nagpur Branch in conducting meaningful public awareness campaigns.
Winners of the contest were honored with trophies and certificates in various categories, including Smile Champion, Smile Queen, Timeless Legend, Evergreen Icon, and Social Media Smile Star.
The event also featured a Continuing Dental Education (CDE) Session, where renowned dental experts Dr. Abhishek Vaidya and Dr. Chandani Hotwani delivered insightful lectures that were highly appreciated by attending dental professionals.
The success of the program was attributed to the dedicated efforts of the Executive Committee (EC) members, participating dentists, and volunteers of IDA Nagpur Branch. Their teamwork, planning, and commitment played a crucial role in making the event impactful and memorable.
Among the prominent attendees were Dr. Manoj Chandak, Dean of Sharad Pawar Dental College & Hospital, Wardha, along with Dr. Krishna Lahoti, Dr. Rasna Agrawal, Dr. Rashmi Tonge, Dr. Rohit Mude, Dr. Himani Deulkar, Dr. Ganesh Bajaj, Dr. Geetika Soni, and Dr. Sunil Baghel, besides numerous members and dental professionals associated with IDA Nagpur Branch.
