Nagpur: In a land dispute which surfaced between Atul Patne, currently posted as Director in Agriculture and Corporation department in New Delhi, and Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT), the IAS officer has stated that his family would give up its claim in case its ownership is proved.

Patne is a 1999-batch IAS officer of the Maharashtra Cadre.

According to sources it is said that a plot belonging to NIT at Gorepeth was sold by someone to Patne’s mother Prabhavati on April 9, 2008, through a registered sale deed. Later, mutation of the plot was done in city survey and also the Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s property tax department in the name of Prabhavati.

On the other hand, NIT realized this only after commencing the flat scheme in 2011. Since then, the ownership case is pending in district court. NIT had filed an appeal with the superintendent of land records which will clear the entire dispute.

An official told  media that NIT was not complying with some queries raised two years ago. While Patne claims that everything was right about transaction from his side, he also said that NIT was not providing layout plan and documents related to the plot even under RTI Act.
