IAF trainer aircraft crashes in Telangana, no casualties

Hyderabad: A Kiran trainer aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed shortly after taking off from the Hakimpet Air Force Station in Hyderabad on Friday. The woman pilot on board ejected safely before the crash and is reported to be safe. The IAF has initiated a court of inquiry.

She was rushed to nearby hospital by the locals and is undergoing treatment.

A News agency reported that the woman cadet was undergoing fighter training. She was attempting a landing when the incident took place.

Eyewitnesses told media that the woman pilot asked for a mobile phone and informed the authorities about the incident. The aircraft was engulfed in fire. The locals called for an ambulance.

This is the second such incident within a month. Last month, a Kiran aircraft crashed in a similar manner. Authorities had cited technical problem as the reason behind the crash.

The cause of the present crash remains to be detected. An official statement is awaited from the authorities.
