Husband, in-laws booked for abetting to suicide of woman

Nagpur News : Gittikhadan police booked husband and in-laws of a woman for abetting to commit her suicide. The deceased is Sukhwati Surtiya (29), a resident of Jafar Nagar, behind Ayyappa Mandir.

According to information, Sukhwati Surtiya consumed some poisonous potion on January 2,  this year after which her health started deteriorating. Her family members rushed her to hospital and her treatment started thereafter. However, she breathed her last on March 6. Gittikhadan police registered a case of accidental death and started probe in the matter.

Police informed that during investigations it was revealed that Sukhwati married the accused Chhatru Harisingh Surtiya (31), but soon after the marriage, her husband and her in-laws Tasusi Surtiya, and Laxmi Narayan Surtiya, started asking her to do a job and earn money for the family. Her in-laws beat her up and tortured her physical and mentally. Thus, Sukhwati took the extreme step and ended her life by consuming a poisonous potion.

On the complaint of Sukhwati’s father Kamal Mehatlal Mawaiya, Gittikhadan police booked the accused and registered a case under Sections 306 and 34 of the IPC.
