Husband, in-laws, 4 others booked for cheating, harassing lady doctor

Nagpur: Ambazari police have booked seven persons, including husband, in-laws and four other relatives, all hailing from Rajasthan, on the charges of cheating a lady doctor by way fabricating documents to show her husband is doctor and solemnising marriage with her. The seven accused have also been charged with harassing the lady doctor for bringing dowry.

The complainant Dr Renu Lokendra Singh (30), resident of Plot No. 401, ‘Pitru Vaibhav Apartment,’ near NMC Zonal Office, Shankar Nagar, told police that the accused Lokendra Singh (Husband), Randhir Singh (Father-in-law), Urmila Randhir Singh (Mother-in-law), Manoj Randhir Singh (Brother-in-law), Brijesh Manojpal Sogarwal, Lokesh Sogarwal and Khemchand Nihal singh (all relatives), residents of District Bharatpur (Rajasthan), in a well-planned conspiracy, pretended that the accused Lokendra Singh is a doctor and even produced forged documents to prove their claim. Believing the accused, she married with the accused Lokendra Singh. However, soon after marriage, Dr Renu came to know that her husband Lokendra Singh is a bogus doctor. Moreover, she was subjected to harassment, mentally ass well as physically, frequently for bringing dowry money.

Ambazari Lady PSI Kale, acting on the complaint of Dr Renu Lokendra Singh, booked the seven accused under Sections 420, 467, 468, 498(A), 34 of IPC read with Sections 3, 4 of Dowry Prohibition Act and launched a thorough investigation into the matter.
