Nagpur: In a special drive against traffic rule violators, Traffic Branch of Nagpur Police booked 6,988 motorists, including 548 for jumping traffic signals, and collected a total compounding amount of more than Rs 71.22 lakh from them on Friday, October 18.
By initiating action against 548 motorists jumping traffic signals, the Traffic Police have set a new record of issuing highest challans on a single day since the past two years. The crackdown on violators of traffic rules would continue on a regular basis.
“Nagpur Traffic Police are determined to continue their efforts to discipline reckless drivers and enforce strict adherence to traffic regulations,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Archit Chandak said. He has appealed to the citizens not to jump signals, use helmets, seat belts and not to drive on the wrong side and strictly adhere to the traffic rules and cooperate with the police.
Citizens have been urged to comply with traffic rules to avoid such penalties. Additionally, the public is requested not to park their vehicles in a manner that poses a danger on public roads.
