Hudkeshwar cops foil dacoity, nab 5-member gang

Nagpur: Hudkeshwar police foiled an imminent dacoity by arresting a gang of five young robbers including two juveniles in the dead of night on Wednesday. A member of the gang managed to escape the police net and is being hunted.

A team of Hudkeshwar cops, led by PSI Sachin Dharmejwar, was on patrol on Tuesday night. Around 0150 hours, the team spotted the 6-member gang seated in an auto (MH-49/E 1291) near Lifestyle Furniture on Besa-Beltarodi Road. Cops immediately surrounded the auto and confronted the gang on the motive for seating in the auto at the odd hours. The police team got suspicious when the six accused fumbled and tried to mislead the cops. Upon frisking of the gang members, cops found them in possession of two sharp-edged weapons, iron rod, wire, rope and other material intended to be used in dacoity. Cops immediately detained gang including two juvenile boys.

The arrested gang members have been identified as Ankush Deepak Dhakate (19) of Mominpura, Ankit Kishore Kahar (18) of Rameshwari, Kisan Kewaldas Kuldeep (21) of Kunjilalpeth. The two juveniles have not been identified. However, another accused named Shubham managed to escape from the spot and is being hunted by cops.

API S D Mahalle has booked the accused under Sections 399, 402 of the IPC.
