Nagpur:
Kalamna police have booked husband, his parents and two other relatives on the charges of abetting suicide by a young married woman who was two-month pregnant. All the five accused tortured the deceased over dowry.

The deceased Rupalee Jitendra Katole (20), resident of Kapsi Khurd, Kamptee Tehsil under Kalamna police jurisdiction, had ended her life by hanging around 1.30 pm on Sunday. When the family members came to know about Deepali’s suicide, they themselves released the rope noose and took her to Mayo Hospital. The doctors there, after examining her, had pronounced Rupalee brought dead around 4 pm. Kalamna PSI Gosavi, based on the information of Haribhau Yadavrao Katole, had registered a case of accidental death and was investigating the matter further.

The in-depth probe launched by Kalamna police revealed that Rupalee had got married with Jitendra Katole on 19.4.2016. However, soon after the marriage, Jitendra, his parents Haribhau Katole, Parvatabai Katole, brother Rajendra Katole and sister Karishma Katole started demanding Rupalee to bring Rs 2 lakh in cash from her parents. When she failed to meet the demand of the accused, they subjected her to torture mentally and physically despite knowing that Rupalee was two-month pregnant. Fed up with the frequent harassment, Rupalee took the extreme step of ending her life by hanging to a ceiling fan in her house with the help of dupatta on Sunday (July 31) afternoon. Shockingly, one of the accused Haribhau Katole was the first person to inform police about suicide by Rupalee, an apparent attempt to mislead the cops.

Based on the probe revelation and a complaint lodged by Rupalee’s father Dnyaneshwar Marotrao Kakde (41) of Bidgaon, PSI Gode has booked all the five accused under Sections 304(B), 498(A), 34 of the IPC and launched a fresh probe.
