Housemaid ‘cleans’ locker, decamps with Rs 1.50 lakh booty in Nandanvan

Nagpur: A housemaid “cleaned” a locker of her employer and decamped with a booty of jewelleries and cash valued at Rs 1.50 lakh in Nandanvan area here on Tuesday morning. The accused is being searched.

According to the complainant, Dharmavir Jagdish Sharma (52), he locked his residence at Flat No. 302, Mahakali Apartment, Gopalkrishna Nagar, Vathoda, at 10 am on Tuesday and went to his job. But since the housemaid was yet to arrive, he handed over the key of his flat to neighbor named Agrawal. Later, when the accused housemaid arrived she took the key from Agrawal and went to work at Sharma’s flat.

However, the housemaid did a nasty act. She laid her hands on gold-silver ornaments and cash of Rs 25,000 kept in the locker of an almirah. The collective value of the booty burgled is Rs 1.50 lakh. The theft came to notice when Sharma returned home and found the main door ajar. He checked the valuables and fount them missing.

Nandanvan WPSI R D Bawankar has booked the accused housemaid under Sections 454, 380 of the IPC and searching her.
