Nagpur: A middle-aged man was killed after a speeding unidentified heavy vehicle hit his motorcycle near Waifal Toll Plaza on Samruddhi Mahamarg in Hingna area Monday night. After the mishap, the driver of the ‘killer’ heavy vehicle sped away.
The deceased, Pramod Mahadeorao Khairkar (56) was a resident of Ward No 2, near Durga Mata Mandir, Takalghat. Khairkar was returning home on his Hero Splendor motorcycle (MH-40/BD-4337) around 10.30 pm. Near the bridge connecting Flipkart Godown and Waifal Toll Plaza on Samruddhi Mahamarg, a recklessly-driven heavy vehicle hit Khairkar’s bike. The driver fled the spot. A seriously injured Khairkar was rushed to Government Medical College & Hospital but on the way, he succumbed to his injuries.
Hingna Police registered a case under Sections 279, 304(A) of the Indian Penal Code, read with Section 134 (a)(b) of the Motor Vehicle Act, and started a probe.
Mishap victim succumbs to injuries
A pedestrian, who was grievously injured after being hit by a rashly-driven unidentified vehicle in the Wadi area, succumbed to his injuries during treatment at Mayo Hospital on Monday.
Identified as Govinda Jairam Thakre (40), the deceased was a resident of Gondkhairi, near Bright Star School, taluka Kalmeshwar. Thakre was going towards Night Owl Restro & Lounge from Waddhamna Chowk around 9.10 pm on Sunday. Suddenly, a recklessly-driven vehicle hit Thakre injuring him seriously. The driver fled the spot. Thakre was admitted to Mayo Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Monday.
After recording the statement of Devanand (22), nephew of the deceased, Wadi Police registered a case under Sections 279, 304(A)of the IPC, read with Sections 134, 177 of MVA, and started the probe.
