High-profile drug racket busted, 9 dealers & addicts arrested

Nagpur:
The anti-narcotics squad of Crime Branch busted a high-profile drug racket by arresting nine persons including drug dealers and addicts. Cops have seized cocaine worth Rs 48,000, six mobile phones worth Rs 98,500, six mobile handsets worth Rs 98,500, Rs 2.07 lakh cash and a car worth Rs 10 lakh from the arrested accused.

The nine accused include youngsters from very rich families, some suspects in Dabba trading and cricket bookies.

Acting on a secret and reliable tip-off, the anti-narcotics squad of Crime Branch laid a trap at VCA Complex on Friday (August 11). The suspected accused arrived at the spot in a Maruti Ciaz car. The squad, after verifying the facts, intercepted the car and immediately detained the accused.

The accused have been identified as Ikram Sheikh alias Iqbal Sheikh (32), resident of Paradise Apartment, Mankapur Square, Vijay Dhanraj Vanjari (30), New Colony, Sadar, Harshal Kiran Mehta (24), Shivaji Complex, Plot No. 22, near Kalpana Building, Mankapur, Azim Khan Riyaz Mohd Khan (29), resident of Hasanbagh Ring Road, near Usmania Masjid, Nandanvan, Mohit Rajkumar Shahu (22), resident of Plot No. 88/89, Kolbaswami Nagar, Binaki Managlwari, Dipesh Umesh Lalvani (20), resident of B-118, Saifee Apartment, Nagraj Chowk, Shantinagar, Angadsingh, Sukhdeepsingh Puri (27), resident of Kadbi Chowk, Kamptee Road, Arjun Darshan Naidu (24), resident of Prestige Apartment, behind Heritage Hotel, and Naeem Ansari Kayum Ansari (23), resident of Plot No. 380, Hasanbagh.

The raid and arrest action was carried out by Police Inspector Vartikar, API Dilip Chandan, PSI Swapnil Wagh, constables Datta Bagul, Pravin Fandade, Ramesh Umathe, NPCs Tulsidas Shukla, Satish Patil, Kishore Mahant, Woman Police Sepoy Rubina Sheikh, driver police sepoy Nitin Salukhe under the directives and guidance of Commissioner of Police Dr K Venkatesham, Joint CP Shivaji Bodkhe, DCP (Crime) Sambhaji Kadam, and ACP (Crime) Somnath Waghchaure.
