Gorewada overflow 1Nagpur: After around 20 hours of pouring rainfall, the Gorewada lake has crossed the 315.96 mtr mark overflow mark. Due to these alarming levels, all four gates of Gorewada Lake popularly known as GODBOLE GATES had to be opened which led the Old Gorewada, Pench II and Pench III water treatment plants at Gorewada submerged in muddy/turbid water.

Pumping at the Pench- II & III WTP’s has been completely affected while pumping has been partially affected from Pench- I and Kanhan- WTP’s.

These consequences which are out of human control may result in limited and little bit turbid water supply on August 14.

However, water supply especially in zones of Laxmi Nagar, Dharampeth, Gandhibagh and Gittikhadan command area was affected on August 13 evening also and will also remain severely affected on August 14 too.

OCW technical experts under leadership of Deputy Director (O and M) Rajesh Kalra are engaged in the corrective measures and trying hard to sort out the problems developed at all the WTP’s.

NMC-OCW appeal citizens to co-operate. The situation aroused because of heavy rainfall in city is highly regretted.
