Nagpur: The Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court, comprising Justice Anil L. Pansare and Justice Raj D. Wakode, on November 11 issued a notice to former Police Inspector Dnyaneshwar Bhedodkar of Hudkeshwar Police Station in a contempt petition filed by Sagar Ravindra Chintkutlawar, an architect from Nagpur. The petition, numbered Contempt Petition No. 194 of 2025, was filed through Advocate Laxmikant Jaiswal.

The petition accuses the former police officer of willful disobedience of a previous court order dated August 13, 2024, passed in Criminal Writ Petition No. 290 of 2022. In that order, the High Court had directed the investigating agency to conduct further investigation into a major financial fraud case involving accused Nilesh Tale and his firm Mandas Next Financial Services, and to take necessary action within three months.

However, according to the petitioner, no progress was made despite the court’s clear directions, leading to the filing of the contempt plea. After hearing Advocate Jaiswal for the petitioner and the Assistant Government Pleader representing the State, the Bench issued notices to the investigating agency and directed the State to submit its reply by November 25, 2025.

The original case, registered as Crime No. 69/2022 under Sections 420, 425, 467, and 471 of the Indian Penal Code, pertains to alleged misappropriation of public deposits collected under the guise of lucrative investment schemes. The petitioner has also sought invocation of the Maharashtra Protection of Interests of Depositors (in Financial Establishments) Act, 1999 (MPID Act) for strict action against the accused.

Commenting on the development, Advocate Laxmikant Jaiswal said, “This order reinforces accountability when investigating authorities fail to comply with judicial directives and upholds the rights of victims in financial fraud cases.”
