Nagpur: A cloud of controversy has engulfed the Urban Flea Fair, a Halloween-themed event hosted at a well-known café in Laxmi Nagar, Nagpur, following shocking revelations about the involvement of minors and disturbing incidents that occurred during the preparations.
According to sources, the café owner had entrusted the responsibility of organizing the event to a group of young coordinators aged between 18 and 19 years. The group had reportedly created a WhatsApp group nearly two months ago to recruit volunteers for the fair. Shockingly, a few minors were also added to the group and engaged in event-related activities.

On night of October 29, all volunteers were summoned to the café for a briefing session. One of the underage girls was dropped off at the venue by her mother, who was informed that the work would continue until 11 p.m. However, when the mother returned later to pick her up, the girl was missing. The organizers claimed she had left around 7 p.m.
Panic spread soon after as the girl could not be traced. A subsequent inquiry revealed that she had accompanied some of the organizers to a flat in the Trimurti Nagar area, where a liquor party was underway. Police intervention led to the girl being found, reportedly in an intoxicated state.
Although the girl’s parents refrained from filing a formal complaint fearing social stigma, the incident has sparked outrage among citizens and parents in the area. Locals have condemned the reckless inclusion of minors in late-night events and their being taken to private flats without supervision, terming it an “extremely serious and irresponsible act.”
In a further twist, during an internal inquiry by the café owner, one of the young organizers allegedly tried to brush off the matter by claiming to be “a friend of a political leader’s son.”
The incident has once again raised serious concerns over the safety of minors and the accountability of event organizers. Local residents are demanding stern action against those responsible for endangering a child and misusing event platforms for inappropriate activities.
