Gurugram: The woman who was gang-raped by three men – the driver and two “co-passengers” of a shared auto – in Gurugram carried her dead baby in Metro from one doctor to another hoping that the other doctor would tell her that her baby is alive, refusing to believe the first. The woman was raped on Tuesday and she alleged that her baby was thrown off the rickshaw by one of the accused. She waited the whole night to get to her in-laws’ place. She held the baby in her arms the whole night before she got an auto to her in-laws’ place in Old Gurgaon.
As the investigation began, more reports have been emerging which will only make your heart sink, even more.
According to the FIR that has been filed at the Manesar police station, the woman is not 23 years old but is a 19-year-old woman. The woman was travelling with her eight-month-old daughter.

A day before, she was raped by three men and has watched in horror as one of accused threw her baby on the median verge of a road in Gurugram’s Manesar, just next to the spot where she was raped. In Old Gurgaon, the doctor told her that her baby is dead. Refusing to believe it, she went to see another doctor in Tughlakabad, where her parents live. They boarded Metro and went to another doctor who also told her that her baby is long dead. She returned back to Gurugram and filed a police case.
It was earlier reported that the woman had left her house after a fight with her husband. In the FIR that has been filed, the 19-year-old woman had left her house for her in-laws’ house on Khandsa road in Old Gurgaon after a fight with her immediate neighbour. She didn’t want to spend the night at her house especially when her husband was away at work.
On NH-8, she got a lift from a truck driver. She got down from it when the driver started harassing her. She said in the FIR that the driver seemed drunk.
She then stopped a shared auto which was headed towards Gurugram. There were two more people in the passengers’ seat. The shared auto suddenly took a U-turn on the highway, before Kherki Daula toll plaza. Two passengers then started making sexual advances at her. They stopped the auto at an isolated spot. Since the child kept crying that even made them more aggressive. “Some distance after taking the U-turn, the driver stopped the auto and said to one of the other men, ‘Hari, khaana la’ (Hari, bring food),” says the FIR, quoting the woman.
They then drove on to IMT Sector 8 and dragged her out of the auto, to a vacant plot. One of the men snatched the baby and covered her mouth with his hand to prevent the baby from making noise. The men then took turns to rape her. Each time, one of them held the baby. After gang raping her, one of the men threw the baby.
“I became numb from that point. All I remember is seeing my child’s head hitting the road divider,” the FIR says, quoting the 19-year-old. With her baby in her arms, the woman reached Pencil Electro Ltd where the guard asked her to wait till dawn. He then helped her get an auto to her home.
Since she did not have a cellphone with her, her husband came to know of the incident when his father informed him of the incident. “My family has been shattered,” the woman’s husband told media on Tuesday. “I was mourning my daughter when my wife revealed about the gang rape. I want the police to make the arrests quickly.”
One of the accused has been arrested and has confessed to the crime.
