Groom from Delhi turns thug, refuses to marry for not getting money

Nagpur: A groom from Delhi turned out to be a thug as he and his ‘barat’ did not turn up for marriage as the bridegroom’s parents did not meet their demand of money to be spent on wedding expenditure. The bridegroom’s side had made all arrangements for the marriage but were kept waiting and waiting as the ‘barat’ did not turn up.

According to police, a resident of LIG Qtr No. 128/13, New Somwari Quarters, near Tukdoji Square, Kunda Vitthalrao Gaekwad had fixed her daughter’s marriage with the accused Rohit Anil Khandagale between September 3, 2017 and November 18, 2017. Rohit works in Post Department in Delhi. The date for marriage was fixed as December 10 and it was to be held at Meera Lawn at Pipla Fata.

However, before the marriage ceremony, the accused groom Rohit, his parents Anil Khandagale, Rekha Khandagale and a woman named Asha Kadam demanded money from Kunda towards marriage expenditure. When Kunda expressed her inability to meet the money demand as she had already Rs 6.39 lakh for her daughter’s marriage, the accused refused to marry with her. On the day of marriage i.e on December 11, the bridegroom’s side waited for the accused groom Rohit Khandagale and his ‘barat’ to arrive at the Meera Lawn but they did not turn up. Finally, Kunda registered a case against the accused with Hudkeshwar police in this connection.

PSI Y P Sahare booked the accused groom Rohit Khandagale, his parents Anil Khandagale, Rekha Khandagale and Asha Kadam under sections 420, 406, 34 of the IPC and launched an in-depth probe into the matter.
