Nagpur: Green Vigil foundation honored at ongoing Nagpur Mahotsav, 2016 by the hands of Hon. Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri. Devendra Fadnavis for their significant work and contribution in the field of Environment Protection & Sustainable Development at Nagpur and other parts of Central India . The festival has been organized by Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) at Yeshwant Stadium.
Hon. Cabinet Minister of Tourism, Employment Guarantee Scheme, Govt. of Maharashtra Shri. Jayakumar Rawal, Hon. Mayor of Nagpur Shri Pravin Datke, Hon. Commissioner of Nagpur Shri. Shravan Hardikar and other dignitaries were present on dais during the ceremony.
Green Vigil has also set up a Citizen Outreach Campaign Booth at Nagpur Mahotsav, portraying the initiatives and activities being undertaken by NMC & Green Vigil Foundation towards Environment Sustainability. The booth installed showcase various campaigns like Poornima Diwas campaign, aiming towards energy conservation, Environment Education in schools, Lake conservation & rejuvenation – adopting idol immersion in artificial lakes during Ganesh and Devi Visarjan, Natural Resources Conservation , common man’s contribution towards Environment sustainability and so on.
During the campaign, members of Green vigil interacted with citizens using colorful placards on urgent need of Environment Protection , various Environmental issues Earth is facing , and a common man’s role in protection of the planet . Along with this, members appealed citizens to pledge for adopting various Green Living Practices aiming towards Environmental Sustainability.
Kaustav Chatterjee, Founder, Green Vigil Foundation, exclaimed with the feeling of content, in three days , 1450 citizens have pledged to adopt for Green Living Practices and have assured to stick to it in the best possible way. We have seen a drastic change in the mindsets of citizens, they are more environmentally aware now and are taking responsibility to do their bit.
