Nagpur: Goldair Handling India, a Greek company, will now take up the task of ground handling at Nagpur’s Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport. The global tender for ground handling selected this company due to its compliance with the requirements. At the moment, security clearance is still pending, local media reported.
The report claimed that a foreign company named LAS had a realistic chance of winning the contract, but the company failed to meet security standards.
Around 5 months ago, the tender was floated for the second time. For this tender, the airport management has selected Goldair of Greece. However, in order to obtain clearance from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), it must meet all requirements.
It’s worth noting that Goldair serves 36 airports worldwide. It has been stated that if this ground handling firm is selected, there will be no other ground handling agencies at Nagpur Airport other than this and AIASL.
As an international airport, Nagpur Airport requires a wide range of services, from large jets to small ones. This includes aeroplane landing ladders, as well as all loading and unloading resources.
Following a successful tender process, Goldair is set to commence operations at the hub and developing airport in Nagpur during the first half of 2024.
The company will offer aircraft, passenger and cargo handling services, expanding its presence in India, following its entry into Bagdogra and Udaipur airports.
Goldair Handling is a member of Goldair Group of Companies which was founded in 1955 with main activity the commercial representation (GSA) of foreign airlines in Greece.
