Nagpur: Dipen Agrawal, Convener of Sarkar Jagao Vanijya Bachao Sangharsh Samiti and President of Chamber of Associations of Maharashtra Industry and Trade (CAMIT), reacting to the break the chain order dated 2nd August 2021, said that the government’s response to the demands is half-hearted. We welcome the move to permit shops & malls to operate till 8.00 pm on weekdays and till 3.00 pm on Saturdays. However, it appears that goverment is insensitive towards few of the most affected sector of the economy. The hotel, bars, resturants, mangalkaryalay, theatres, artist, entertainment, coaching class, etc. are facing existential crisis and many of them are on the verge of collapse.

It is pertinent to mention here that the order dated 4th June, 2021 is a complete code in itself, it prescribes for opening (unlocking) and closing (locking) of districts concerned based on positivity rate and oxygen bed occupancy rate. We are surprised to note the insensitivity of the government by framing todays order in contradiction to its own scientific order.

Government should first announce sector specific relief package for hotel, bars, resturants, mangal karyalay, theatres, artist, entertainment, coaching class, etc. before imposing any restriction on them contrary to Level-1 relaxation, particularly in districts qualifying under Level-1 as per 4th June 2021 order.

We strongly demand that government should revisit the order and correct the inadvertent injustice done with the most affected sectors of the economy due to lockdown curbs. Meeting of Sangharsh Samiti is scheduled tomorrow at 4.00 pm to discuss and decide further course of action in view of the recent order issued by the state government.
