This nasty revelation was made by a recent survey, which claims that in the past 22 months, robbers, thieves and chain-snatchers have laid their hands on gold ornaments and cash valued at Rs 13 crore. The unemployed Engineer, Architect, MBA, Graduate, Post-Graduate must be cursing their lucks and must be feeling heart burns after knowing the facts. Then why so much study and hard work to get educated?

Could you imagine earning of Rs 60 lakh or so without an investment of a single penny? Could you also imagine an Engineer, Architect, MBA, Graduate, Post-Graduate earning a Big Zero (Unemployed)? It is not just imagination. It is a bitter truth and an accepted fact.

Today, robbers, chain-snatchers, burglars, fraudsters, swindlers and other criminals earn more than Rs 60 lakh a month. Shocking? But, it is true. This nasty revelation was made by a recent survey, which claims that in the past 22 months robbers, thieves and chain-snatchers have laid their hands on gold ornaments and cash valued at Rs 13 crore. The survey also states that 200 chain-snatching cases were registered in the 2013 and counting to raise the graph before it finally bids adieu.

The line “Gain without much strain” has become the mantra for these easy moneymakers nowadays. Businessmen, who invest crores of rupees in their business, yet hardly earn lakhs in return while these criminals are earning lakhs of rupees with zero investment. No wonder the youths are indulging in the “profitable business of crime” than earning it in a hard way. The unemployed Engineer, Architect, MBA, Graduate, Post-Graduate must be cursing their lucks and must be feeling heart burns after knowing the facts. Then why so much study and hard work to get educated?

The fact also points fingers at the ‘tight’ and ‘high security’ claims of Nagpur Police Department. These robbers and chain snatchers are performing their acts right under the noses of police officials and yet very few get caught by the police. Sadly, it tells the story of police department’s failure to curb crime in the Nagpur city.

Nagpur Today dwelt upon the crime cases and came up with shocking figures registered under various police stations.

Pratap Nagar, Gittikhadan, Hudkeswar on target list of house-breakers:

With Nagpurians feeling unsafe on the city roads, even the houses are ‘not secure’ from the clutches of the criminals. Pratap Nagar, Gittikhadan and Hudkeshwar top the list in the house-breaking cases. Robbers easily break into the houses, empty them of valuables in lakhs and as easily leave the place without catching any attention. These areas have become the easy targets for robbers. An average of three house-breaking cases are being registered in these areas every day.

Senior citizens top the hit list:

As elderly people are less prone to fight back,  the robbers and chain-snatchers are largely targeting them with an ease. The survey reveals that most chain-snatchers have targeted senior citizens this year as compared to young people. Let alone the roads, the verandas of their own houses seem unsafe to sit casually. In 2011, police department registered 150 chain-snatching cases while in 2012 the number rose to 221 which shows a steep rise in these cases. However, the number of chain-snatching is 200 and counting until December 23.
