Goon murdered in broad daylight at Gandhibag, accused held

Nagpur: A goon was murdered in broad daylight over a trivial issue near Gandhibagh garden on Sunday afternoon. Identified as Sohail Ahmed alias Sonu Kalya (25), the deceased was a resident of Ansar Nagar in Mominpura.

Police said that the deceased was a known history-sheeter with several offences of loot and robbery registered against him. The accused including Parvez, his brother and their friends had gone to Ganeshpeth to meet an acquintance. In the meantime, the deceased Sonu rang up Parvez and asked him to come near Gandhibag garden. Accordingly, Parvez reached Gandhibag garden alongwith his brother and friends.

Sonu asked Parvez to accompany him to Kamptee for taking a bath in the river. Parvez refused to do so upon which there ensued an argument between the two. Sonu started abusing Parvez and even threatened him of dire consequences.

As the argument heated up, Parvez alongwith his brother and friends started venting their ire against Sonu. They attacked him with sharp weapons injuring him seriously. Sonu collapsed on the spot in a pool of blood.

Meanwhile, a posse of tahsil police reached the spot and rushed Sonu to Mayo hospital where he died while undergoing treatment at 9 pm. After registering offences against the accused Parvez and his accomplices, Tahsil police have put them under arrest. Further investigations are under way.
