Nagpur: A goon attempted to kill a youth with a knife on the footpath atVidhan Bhavan gate near Meetha-Neem Dargah in Civil Lines on Wednesday late evening. With serious injuries on his neck, Nilesh alias Golu Maroti Kamble (27), a resident of Jattarodi, behind Imambada Police Chowky, was rushed to Mayo Hospital.
Later, Sitabuldi Police arrested Pranay Rajesh Patre (28), a resident of Indora, Bara Kholi, and seized the knife from his possession. Some devotees were distributing food to the poor near Meetha-Neem Dargah on Wednesday. Nilesh alias Golu took the food. He sat on the footpath and was eating the meal.
Pranay came and asked Nilesh to give some food to him. When Nilesh refused to share the food, he took out a knife and attacked him causing serious injuries on his neck.
After recording injured Nilesh’s statement, Sitabuldi Police registered an offence under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code against Pranay.
