Goods, cash worth Rs 13 lakh stolen from six shops in Wathoda

Nagpur: A gang of at least four masked miscreants went on a burglary spree at Orange Nagar, Kharbi Road, in Wathoda area and burgled cash and valuables collectively worth Rs 13 lakh from six shops in the wee hours of Wednesday.

The daring burglaries at the shops left the Wathoda Police in the dock. Around 3.30 am, the gang first targeted Neha Medical & General Stores on Kharbi Road. Three masked robbers gained entry into the shop after bending the shutter with crowbars and collected cash from the counter.

The burglars then sneaked into Arihant Kirana Stores after breaking the locks and bending the shutter with crowbars. After collecting cash and some valuables from a drawer, they entered a hardware shop owned by Jeevan Devidas Bhasme by bending shutters and looted cash.

Using similar modus operandi, the robbers’ gang looted cash from three more shops. Staff from Wathoda Police Station arrived and started the probe. Investigators checked the footage of a few CCTV cameras to identify the culprits. Traders in the area demanded the police to intensify patrolling during night hours and arrest the gang involved in the crime.
